"The Sum and Substance of the White Race"

Mexican Americans did not object to the segregation of Blacks or challenge the assumptions of White supremacy. On the contrary, they supported strict segregation of Whites and Blacks in the schools and in public facilities. The basis for their claim for social equality was that they were also white...
A group of Mexican Americans, mostly urban and middle class, founded their own organization in 1929 in Corpus Cristi, the League of United Latin American Citizens...
LULAC sought to set the racial record strait. In a 1932 article in the LULAC News titled "Are Texas-Mexicans 'Americans'?" the author asserted that Mexican Americans were "the first white race to inhabit this vast empire of ours." Another member of LULAC boasted that Mexican Americans were "not only a part and parcel but as well the sum and substance of the white race."
As self-constituted Whites, LULAC members considered it "an insult" to be associated with Blacks or other "colored" races. In 1936 a LULAC official deplored the practice of hiring "Negro musicians" to play at Mexican bailes because it led to "illicit relations" between Black men and "ill-informed Mexican girls." He urged fellow LULAC memebers to "tell these Negroes that we are not going to permit our manhood and womanhood to mingle with them on an equal social basis".

  1. Thank you SO much for creating this blog!I cannot even begin to tell you how I tired I am of this b.s notion of recent origin that Hispanic/Latino are races and/or they are all oppressed minorities!Keep up the good work!As people certainly won't hear about these stories on mainstream "La Tee Noh" sites such as Mitu,Pero Like,or Latino Rebels PS:For what it's worth, even though he was of Spanish(Canarian)ancestry(And therefore not La Tino),there was a Judge from Lousiana by the name of Leander Perez, who was not only a fierce segregationist, but the founder of the White Citizens Council of Greater New Orleans.

  5. I could give a freak about any Non Black’s opinion of me. We should know we have no friends of this world.
Realize they’re no better than we are, however they are of less importance than we, the chosen people of God.
Just come to realization that we need to stick together and start building empires for ourselves. Stop commingling in marriage with them. Just look and know we as a people are the most talented. We are the most hated, but yet the most imitated. Just think about it!!! We’ve got what they want. My people, open your eyes.
We need to live separate from non Blacks and realize the true power we’re gifted with and the beauty of our people.

  6. what a bunch of BS, the main reason for the independence of Texas was that mexico was an anti-slavery country. Mexicans always opposed slavery and lost great amount of land over it.

  7. Another easy to underscore the perpetual victim hood of African-Americans. Mexico lost texas because it opposed slavery. whrn to war over the matter and lost half of its territory. bu dont let those facts get in the way of your victim hood.
